IKEEE CODE OF ETHICS
Article (Purpose)
This Code of Ethics is to define the ethical principles and criteria for members of the society to follow in the process of research and educational activities and take measures to ethical issues which may be encountered during the process in order to properly defend.
Article II (Subject of application)
The aforementioned clause, the Article I (Purpose), shall be applied to academic journal publications as well as conference papers particularly the submitted journals.
Article III (Definition of research ethics and misconduct)
The following technicalities are considered fraudulent acts which should be rigidly averted.
i. Forgery and counterfeit act of research process and results or artificially manipulating the research contents.
ii. Plagiarism or imitation of others’ research contents without references or inadequate citation and source display.
iii. Unjustified treatment or inexpedient display and disapproval of authorship neglecting the author’s contribution.
iv. Duplicate publication, redundant posting or printing and segmental publication. (However, there shall be exemption regarding papers that have been submitted to an academic conference; some can be overwritten.)
v. Any other suspicious acts which the committee requires verification or considers to investigate its authenticity.
Article IV (Code of Ethics to be followed by authors)
i. The authors are those who have contributed to the completion of the thesis by accurately describing the results of the research that was planned and carried out directly, and are responsible for the thesis and recognized as an achievement.
ii. The order of the authors of the dissertation should be determined by the degree to which they contributed to the study under agreement between the co-authors.
iii. On behalf of the co-authors, the correspondent is responsible for the accuracy of the data, the whole process of the thesis contribution, and for all correspondence and responses to questions.
iv. The author shall accept the opinions of the reviewer who evaluated the dissertation as much as possible and reflect them in the paper, and if he disagrees with them, he shall present the reasons to the editor-in-chief in detail.
Article V (Code of Ethics to be followed by the editor-in-chief)
i. The editor-in-chief is responsible for deciding whether to publish the published paper and secures fairness and veracity of the screening process.
ii. The editor-in-chief shall not disclose anything about the author or the contents of the article to anyone other than the judge until the publication of the published article is published.
Article VI (Code of Ethics to be followed by reviewer)
i. The reviewer shall fairly evaluate the papers requested by the Editor-in-chief within the period set by the Regulations for Examination, and if he is judged to be unfit to evaluate the contents of the thesis, he shall inform the office of ikeee without delay.
ii. The reviewer should apply strict scientific standards and research standards to assess them, and should not drop papers without specifying clear and sufficient grounds.
iii. The reviewer shall keep confidential information about the papers under examination and shall not use or disclose the contents of the papers without the author's consent until papers are published, and the real name of the reviewer in question shall be confidential.
Article VII (Vow of Code of Ethics)
Members of IKEEE must pledge to comply with Code of Ethics when they sign up as members. In the case of an existing member, you are deemed to have made a pledge.
Article VIII (Configuration of the research ethics committee)
Research Ethics Committee of IKEEE (hereinafter referred to as the committee) is a group total seven members organized with three official members (a chairman, a general affairs, and editor-in-chief) and limited to four members the chairman designates. The editor-in-chief is appointed as the head of committee; however, the committee member cannot possibly be involved in survey, deliberation, and voting, provided that the member has a stake in the agenda.
Article IX (The duty of Committee)
i. Matters concerning research ethics and its promotion shall be conducted; the committee shall manage and provide research ethical principles to members and authors.
ii. The committees shall be in act of investigation, deliberation, and voting for compliance with research ethics on journals, submitted journal papers and conference paper.
iii. Disciplinary matters in relation to violation of the research ethics shall be managed.
Article X (Deliberation Procedure)
The committee shall be responsible for misconduct provision and immediately ascertain the fact when investigation or verification is required.
Article XI (Opportunity of vindication & Confidentiality of survey target)
There shall be sufficient opportunities for those (authors) who are determined violating the research ethics, their identification shall be kept confidential and protected until the final disciplinary measures are taken.
Article XII (Measure against violation)
i. Proved that there is adjudicated fraud or a case of misconduct, the committee shall immediately notify the result of misconduct investigation and deliver the result to the Board of Directors and editing committees as well as to journals and other related institutions depending on the cases of misconduct. Cancellation on the related manuscript shall be come into action followed by serious measures, such as deprivation of membership or suspension including severe restriction on submission of the author and co-author.
ii. In the event a member's personal information or confidential information is leaked to others or other institutions, the committee's investigation review results can be immediately notified to the board of directors and some or all of the disciplinary actions, such as suspension or deprivation of a member's qualifications, can be taken.
Article XIII (Notes)
Matters that are not specified in this provision comply with the Code of ethics of Science and technology Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies has established.
Article XIV (Subsidiary Clause)
This provision shall be enacted as of April, 2012 by a resolution of IKEEE Board of Directors.
This provision shall be enacted as of May, 2019 by a resolution of IKEEE Board of Directors.
